I’m going through a little foodie period. Actually, I’m always going through a little foodie period, but lately I’ve been going with clients. A couple days ago a dear out of town toy took me to Boulevard. I’ve wanted to go for ages as it’s always listed as one of the top spots in SF.

The food was good, but certainly nothing spectacular as I would have expected from such a highly praised spot. As usual, the appetizer was the best part of the meal, prawns stuffed with lobster. Yummy! For dinner I ordered the halibut, which was served over very fishy rice with crab. No vegis. Was I suposed to order those on the side? No one told me. The desserts also looks wonderful, but I opted for the fresh berries. I guess that was my vegi of the evening.

I was most unimpressed with the staff. I always feel that if you are paying that much for dinner, the help should be very attentive. Instead, I felt like we were at a quickpaced diner, everyone running back and forth too busy to check in on you.

The setting was wonderful. The building itself is a quite beautifully restored art deco near the bay with views of the Bay Bridge. Call me a Princess, but I tend to want a bit more then a nice setting for those kind of prices! Has the food slipped lately? Did the good waitstaff all quit and head over to Town Hall to work? I know I’ll be heading over there to eat.
