As most of you know by now, I’ve a special interest in gender in all it’s many colors and twists and such, and not just the sexy play behind dungeon doors for an hour or two kinda way. Among the 100 or so social obligations I had this weekend was a trip to a local theater to see Family Jewels:
The Making of Veronica Klaus (http://www.therhino.org/) which is a one women play about her life and her transition from Midwestern “girlie boy” to San Francisco Chanteuse.
It was a very touching and insightful look into the process, both mental and physical that she went through. She discussed taking hormones and the changes that took place, both to her body and her mental state, and about coming out to her family and their reaction. Personally, because I’m nosey/inquisitive, I would have loved more details and less singing – although she does have an amazing voice. Even so, she did an amazing job of addressing sensitive issues with lots of humor and no shame.
I would highly suggest any of you who are interested in the real life aspects of trans-gender to check it out.

A very wise woman once told me, when i was in a crisis of conscience over what she told me i was, that “We are all born a different sex (from one another), but we only come with two kinds of equipment.” i, and some others W/we know, may actually have several sexes, sometimes all at the very same time…
Of course, anything Princessa thinks important is, but i have heard positive comments from many of my friends, as well and only wish i might have the opportunity to see the play my self.
